Water Intake

Water Intake Overview

Daily hydration needs based on activity and climate

The Water Intake Calculator helps you determine exactly how much hydration your body needs. The old advice of '8 glasses a day' is a myth—your actual needs depend on your body weight, activity level, and the climate you live in. This tool starts with a medical baseline based on your weight and adjusts for exercise duration and environmental heat. Proper hydration improves energy, cognitive function, and athletic performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does coffee count as water?
Yes, but it is a mild diuretic. While it contributes to hydration, plain water is superior. This calculator recommends total fluid intake, primarily water.
Can I drink too much water?
Yes, it is possible (hyponatremia), but rare. Unless you are drinking gallons in a short period, sticking to these recommendations is safe.
